05 Moments: Militsa from Bedouin Forest Residence

In 05 Moments we share the most intimate rituals, gestures and contemplations that make life truly humane. This is a mindfulness journal narrated by women who inspire us. In times when time is somehow a conceptual value rather than capitalising one, 05 Moments would like to remind you about the privilege to feel, hear, see and touch. An ode to the senses and more, we hope to nourish a really important relationship- the one with the Self. When the world is slowing down, this same quality of mindful observation is what’s going to bring vibrations higher and overcome fear and anxiety. May what you read appeals to your own world of rituals and observations so we learn together to worship the small moments- somehow larger than life.

Mornings are sacred to me- right after I wake up I would peek through the window and dwell on nature for a while. The sight of the forest and the sound of waterfalls make me naturally present. That’s my form of meditation. I love the smell of coffee. Our ritual with my boyfriend is to arrange a beautiful breakfast table. This is the most canny part of the day when we can simply be with each other. Sharing food is the best way to connect and breakfast is our moment. The rest of the day is working on our agenda - guests, planning, renovating. It’s a quiet place here but everything is changing all the time. That’s the beauty of it

God is in the detail - this is where I live too. I enjoy contemplating on textures and colors. I find it inspiring - look at the raw texture of this stone for instance, it almost narrates its story of thousands of years. This attention to details makes me understand better the couples who want to marry here. I can “smell” and see their wedding and I turn these observations into a concept.

I would always remember these beautiful newlyweds from New Zealand and Austria. Their love felt so gratifying, grounding, pure and cozy - they smelled like lavender to me. That was the theme of their wedding, we’ve chosen it together. I still enjoy preparing their lavender tea- it brings the feeling of being immersed in love. I get the thrills when I think about it- I might not have the time for drawing anymore but now love and nature are my means of expression.

Every time when I see my deer coming back from the forest, I feel pure gratitude. I take care of her since she was a couple of months old. She brings me the feminine energy but I never thought of caging her to make sure she will always be with me. I know it might be the last time I see her and the understanding that everything in life is so fragile and nothing lasts forever, makes me enjoy these presents even more.

The most enjoyable part of the day is when I reward myself to a good afternoon gin. As much as I am a hard worker, a big part of me is also e hedonist. You may call me materialistic, but I like beautiful things. I love ceramic pots, vases, details that I almost hoard with holy regard- they are the foundation of my work. The details and objects I would turn into a beautiful wedding reception or a wedding arch. This hedonistic side feeds my vision to create beautiful and unique events. Work hard but “chin-chin” to the part of you who wants to enjoy Life simultaneously and all the time.
